What’s It All About? For those who lament the passing of 24, your new obsession has arrived. Filled with enough flashbacks and parallel narratives to keep even the most experienced viewers on their toes, this is TV that makes you pay attention. How often can you say that? It all surrounds a mysterious, most likely cataclysmic, event involving the U.S. president (Underwood), a clandestine group of prisoners (led by Innes) and an everyman (Ritter) who is on a tropical vacation with his girlfriend when he gets pulled into the conspiracy. It all leads up to one of the most genuine and awesome did-I-just-see-that moments of the season with its last-minute twist, after which The Event becomes an entirely different show. “There’s a promise there with the end of the pilot,” says executive producer Steve Stark (Medium), “of some really wonderful things to come, and that this show could really go anywhere, and that’s a great story to be able to tell.” To give you an idea of the direction they might be going, check out the past credits of the other producers, which include The X-Files, The 4400, Friday Night Lights and, yes, 24.
