Who Is In It? Dr. Mehmet Oz
What To Expect: The Emmy-winning and critically acclaimed series begins its third season with new episodes that further our national conversation on health and wellness.
In the season premiere on September 12, 200 women bravely bare their bellies in their battle against the bulge as Dr. Oz reveals a 5-Step Plan for women over 40 to rid themselves of belly fat for good. Foods that can help reduce belly fat are discussed, and show contributor Stepp Stewart presents calorie-burning dance moves.
On the September 13 episode, Dr. Oz breaks the silence on ovarian cancer as he partners with the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) to bring women the information they need to know, like warning signs and where to find and download a life-saving checklist of symptoms. Plus, Dr. Oz reveals and discusses the results from when his show went to Dallas and screened dozens of women for ovarian cancer.
Other topics premiering early in the season include a special hour devoted to the new movie Contagion; the real truth about a woman striving to be the heaviest in the world; and alternative health stars Andrew Weil and Deepak Chopra. Premiere week will conclude with the Contagion special, where Dr. Oz conducts an outbreak experiment with his audience to demonstrate how a pandemic would rip through the globe at astonishing speed. Director Steven Soderbergh, actor Matt Damon and Centers for Disease Control commissioner Dr. Thomas Frieden appear to discuss how closely art would imitate life. Dr. Oz examines whether a real-life pandemic could happen and what you could do to protect yourself and your family.
What’s It All About? Following in the footsteps of Dr. Phil, Oprah’s most recent health expert — Dr. Oz — gets his own daily talk show, too. The format combines Oz’s upbeat and unique point of view in a multi-topic, multi-segment health and wellness talk show that offers topical, newsworthy information and inspiring stories.
What To Expect: In the Season 2 premiere, Dr. Oz finds himself in the unfamiliar role of patient. Having just turned 50 in June, Oz undergoes a colonoscopy to underscore the critical role this test can play in detecting and preventing colon cancer.
Additional shows airing during premiere week feature three major themes which will recur throughout the year - "5 to Know," "Just 10 Pounds" and "The Pulse." Each of these three segments will be fixtures on the show in the fall and teach viewers about the five most important numbers that can save lives: blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose, weight and waist size.
On Wednesday, September 8, Dr. Oz facilitates our national conversation on breast cancer and examines the discussion surrounding ductile carcinoma in situ or DCIS. Esteemed breast cancer specialists Dr. Laura Esserman, Director of UCSF Breast Center, and Dr. Ruth Oratz, a breast cancer surgeon and advisor to Susan G. Komen for The Cure, will discuss the difference of opinions, risks and options for women diagnosed with DCIS.
On Thursday, September 9, "The Dr. Oz Show" travels across the country, from Embarrass, Minnesota to Peculiar, Missouri, and from Truthville, New York to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico to reveal America's most embarrassing questions. Some residents are in studio to ask Dr. Oz their blush worthy queries in person. This show also provides a back pain clinic for the number one cause of missed work in America - low back pain.
Friday, September 10 debuts a brand new feature segment for 2010 - "The Pulse" - which rounds up top medical experts for a spirited discussion of the hottest health headlines. Friday's episode features the most interesting stories of summer 2010, such as the danger of cosmetic contact lenses. "The Pulse" will re-appear throughout the season at various intervals and when major health stories happen.
Monday, September 13 marks the debut of "Just 10 Pounds." Just 10 pounds are all you need to make a huge difference in reducing your risk factors for stroke, heart disease, diabetes and other ailments. Dr. Oz shows his audience the consequences of the extra weight with a fatty liver, smaller brain, fatty heart, fatty omentum and deteriorated knee cap pulled from a cadaver. A team of experts consisting of Dr. Mike Roizen, interventionist Brad Lamm, trainer Gunnar Peterson, and nutritionist Dr. Ro will be on hand to discuss specific techniques to lose the weight and how to stay motivated.

I was sold on Dr. Oz when he took a team of medical experts and gave free health exams and check ups! I love this precious doctor and plan on watching his show. Oprah got it right when she introduced the world to Dr. Oz, he actually is making the world a healthier better place!
Dr. Oz back in January 2011 I had a procedure done called gamma knife/radiation for AVM diagnose. First appt with doctor was fine and when I mentioned to him on second appt that I had cancel a surgery with one his friend doctor before I came to him, then his attitude change to a negative way. Before procedure he stated that at one year anniversy of the procedure I would get an angiogram done to see the results from the procedure. I decided to have procedure done and I was treated really bad by him at the procedure and after on the followups. He has called me at home screaming at me more than once saying that I should be thankful for what he did for me instead of complaining and that I’m a demanding patient.!!! I urgentely need to change doctor. I am scared that he has made it personal and that is affecting my treatment. I asked for appt for my husband and I to come in and talk to him about getting an angiogram and their refusing to give us the appointment. I’m a mother of two children and I need to feel my doctor is doing the best for me and actually cares about it. I’m scare and I don’t know what to do in this situation, please help me.
