What’s It All About? Based on Michael Pollan’s best-selling book, this special asks viewers to consider whether we hold sway over plants or whether they might be controlling us. By examining our historical relationship with four species — the apple, the tulip, marijuana and the potato — The Botany of Desire illustrates how they evolved over time to satisfy our human wants for sweetness, beauty, intoxication and control, and shows us how integrated we as a species are in nature’s endless cycle of life.
