What’s It All About? Adapted from the blockbuster animated films, this series details the further adventures of Po, the martial arts panda with the huge enthusiasm and appetite. With his mentor, Shifu, and the Furious Five, Po protects the Valley of Peace from incoming dangers. The show’s producer, Peter Hastings, has a solid track record for witty animated series, including Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain, so there’s great hope for Kung Fu Panda: The Series.

The Troop

What’s It All About? This series is a bit of a hybrid — part live-action, part CG animation, part comedy, part sci-fi adventure. In it, aspiring comic book creator and teen, Jake is recruited by a school counselor to join The Troop, an elite, secret group that protects the world from monsters. With his friend and teammate Haley, and paranormal expert Felix, The Troop sets about protecting its corner of the globe, all the while going about their normal routine as everyday teens. It’s difficult work, but they soon discover that no mission is impossible, and that sometimes the monsters they fear actually can be friends. The metaphor here should be obvious to most, and at the very least, it should encourage the series’ fans to face up to fear.

Fanboy and Chum Chum

What’s It All About? A comic book-obsessed 10-year-old with an overactive imagination, Fanboy — along with his friend Chum Chum, who takes Fanboy’s flights of fancy in stride — turn everyday life into fantastic adventure. Rendered in a mix of classic squash-and-stretch animation combined with CGI, this series spins off from Nicktoons Network’s anthology series Random! Cartoons. Ideal for those who have envisioned themselves as superheros — and really, who hasn’t? — or who just think it would be funny to watch the untethered imagination of a child in such a mode.

Brain Surge

What’s It All About? It’s all about the mind and concentration. In this game show hosted by Jeff Sutphen, kid contestants square off in fast-paced competition that puts their memory skills to the test. The kids face three levels of competition as they try to avoid such hazards as the Brain Drain or the Face Wall. Kids will be eliminated until the last remaining champion gets the “ultimate prize,” or so it’s described — a massive celebratory classic Nickelodeon sliming.
