Where We Left Off: The Destiny had a power failure that caused Young’s (Ferreira) efforts to overpower the Lucian Alliance leader, Kiva, to fail. Young decided to surrender control of the ship while sending Rush (Carlyle) to hide and regain control from one of the other panels. The new Lucian leader, Dannic (Ian Butcher) separates civilians from the military personnel, who are about to be executed when another burst hits the ship.
What to Expect: Season 2 sees the series moving to a new night — Tuesdays. In the opening episode, “Intervention,” Col. Young and most of his military personnel are held at gunpoint by the Lucian Alliance. Dannic intends to kill them but is convinced by Varro (Mike Dopud), a fellow Lucian, to exile them instead. Dannic agrees and the group is forced to travel through the Stargate to a rocky, uninviting planet. Shortly after arrival, they are joined by Varro and his men who have been deemed as traitors and also banished. When a deadly electrical storm begins to brew, all must work together to find safe shelter and survive.
Rush, Brody (Kelamis), Chloe (Levesque) and Eli (Blue) have sealed themselves off in the hydroponics lab and have managed to obtain some control of the ships power. Rush conceives a risky plan to force Varro and the Alliance to surrender by draining the power from most of the ships shields. He informs Varro that when the next energy blast from the binary pulsar hits, everyone other than those in the lab will be killed by the radiation. An enraged Dannic refuses to back down, no matter what the cost.
While an injured Lt. Johansen (Huffman) lies in the infirmary, her subconscious visits a familiar place where she receives some startling news.

What’s It All About? The creators of SGU have promised an entirely new approach to the franchise, ditching traditional alien storylines in favor of a more Battlestar Galactica-type human drama. The series follows a group of soldiers, scientists and civilians who — after retreating from a surprise attack at their hidden base — go through a Stargate and emerge aboard an ancient spaceship, the Destiny. With even their most basic needs in short supply, they must unlock the ship’s secrets if they are to survive. Stargate fans are among the most loyal and vocal around, and some have voiced their trepidation about this new direction. On the other hand, a grittier style might be just what the franchise needs.

Can’t believe this is listed as an “A” – it’s absolutely awful. Everything is so down, depressing and dark. My husband continues to record it, hoping the series turns around and gets back on track, but each episode is more of a downer than the last. Increase the comic relief a little, at least, or just put them all out of their misery – please!
