NCIS

Network: CBS

Who Is In It? Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette, David McCallum

Where We Left Off: Gibbs found himself in a very tough place, captured by the Reynosa cartel and being held by its head, Paloma, whose father’s death Gibbs was responsible for. After issuing him an ultimatum accompanied by a threat to his loved ones, Gibbs seemed to have been set free … but is he being put to the test to become a drug runner?

What To Expect: At present, things are very much under wraps, but behind the scenes, the big news after last season was the expiration of numerous principals’ contracts, including veteran David McCallum, gothy Abby’s Pauley Perrette, Michael Weatherly and Sean Murray. All have re-inked their deals and the series looks, in theory, to be set for years to come … provided the ratings hold, of course. In the season premiere, “The Spider and the Fly,” with Paloma (Jacqueline Obradors) still on the loose, Gibbs must take desperate measures to protect the ones he loves.

What happened in 2009?

Where We Left Off: Mossad agent Ziva (Cote de Pablo), who stayed behind when the team left Tel Aviv, Israel, was being viciously tortured and interrogated about her knowledge of the inner workings of not Mossad, but NCIS.

What to Expect: One hopes some sort of rescue will be attempted, which could pit Ziva’s NCIS boss, Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), against her Mossad boss, her own father (Michael Nouri) – or find them in a tense alliance. In the meantime, Gibbs allows remaining team members Tony DiNozzo and Tim McGee (Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray) to interview candidates for Ziva’s replacement. Don’t know about you, but that sounds a little ominous for fans wanting to know if Tony and Ziva ever get together.
