What’s It All About? In each episode of this six-part series, monstrous prehistoric creatures are brought back to life through fossil clues and modern analogs (animals with similar traits used to suggest the mega beasts’ behavior). Scientists piece together what these monsters may have looked like, how they behaved, how they fought, what they ate — and what ate them. With the use of CGI, the giants are put into modern scenarios to demonstrate what they would act like if they still existed.
The first two episodes on September 13 look at the gigantic Terror Bird, and the Mosasaur, a marine monster. Other creatures examined in the series include the giant lizard Megalania; Acrocanthasaurus, a dinosaur with a powerful death grip; Spinosaurus, the largest carnivorous dinosaur ever known; and Bear Dog, an animal that combined the most lethal features of today’s lion, wolf and grizzly bear.
