What happened in 2009?

New Faces: Andre Braugher as psychiatrist Dr. Nolan

Where We Left Off: After the shocking death of Dr. Kutner, House's life began spinning out of control, causing him to hallucinate and lose faith in his own mental abilities. After a challenging and brief engagement, Cameron and Chase celebrated their wedding, Thirteen and Foreman continued their relationship, and new mother Cuddy learned that House hallucinated a physical relationship with her. As the season ended, House was forced to admit that he had lost his grip on reality and could no longer practice medicine. Out of options, he checked himself into a psychiatric hospital.

What to Expect: Mayfield Psychiatric Hospital is the setting for the two-hour season premiere, as House spars with Dr. Nolan about when he’ll be fit to return to work -- where Foreman (Omar Epps) is left in charge. The season premiere clip shows House with buzzed hair and a very bad attitude, which causes him to be hauled off by men in white outfits. The tag line: “What happens when the doctor becomes the patient?” Can House find some version of sanity and normalcy? Can he stay away from the workplace that arguably drove him to mental instability, but is also the only stable foundation in his life? How will Cuddy's relationship with House change now that their imagined affair is out in the open?
