Dog Whisperer

Airs: Fridays, 8pm

Network: National Geographic Channel

Hosted By Cesar Millan

What to Expect: Comedian and actor Howie Mandel appears in the Season 7 premiere of the hit series, back with 15 new episodes. His wife’s Chihuahua, Lola, consistently tries to attack Howie (who already has trouble getting near animals because of his OCD). But Howie loves his wife, so he calls in Cesar Milan for help with the pooch.

In a special episode later this season, Cesar encounters a whole new set of issues while working with dogs that have been crossbred with wolves. He enlists the help of wolf-dog expert Jennifer McCarthy to bring balance to three canine hybrids who display the confused behaviors of a wild animal trapped in a dog’s body.

In another episode, Cesar works with Meghan Plunkett, daughter of former NFL great Jim Plunkett, who is having trouble caring for her late brother’s pit bull, and helps a NASA astronaut find the right stuff to condition his aggressive dog.

What happened in 2009?

New Faces: Puppies! Where We Left Off: Cesar Millan completed 100 episodes and started work on a new Dog Psychology Center.

What to Expect: Per NGC: “Timed to the debut of his fourth book, How to Raise the Perfect Dog: Through Puppyhood and Beyond, the Season-6 premiere episode is all about puppies. Cesar also goes international this season, searching out problem dogs Down Under in Australia. Plus, he takes a road trip to Texas, works with NASA astronauts, visits (The Biggest Loser trainer) Jillian Michaels, helps former Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum and much more.”

In the premiere episode, Cesar adopts four different breeds and works with them in his pack from the very beginning, to show that if you prevent bad behaviors in puppyhood, you can steer clear of canine nightmares down the road. Cesar brings in Junior, a pit bull pup that Cesar hopes will someday assist him on tough cases now that his trusted righthand dog Daddy is nearing retirement; a calm, submissive Lab pup that Cesar names Marley after one of the world's most infamous bad dogs; a miniature schnauzer named Angel; and an English bulldog named Mr. President. The goal is to raise four balanced pups, and to make the most of each breed's characteristics. Four the next eight months, cameras will be there as Cesar shows viewers how to raise the perfect dog. At the end of the eight months, Cesar proudly passes Marley, Angel and Mr. President on to new homes, while Junior remains a permanent member of the Millan household -- and on Dog Whisperer.
