What’s It All About? Faux-verité strikes again in this homicide investigation drama taking place on the streets of Detroit. An unexplained film crew — that we suspect isn’t filming an episode of COPS — follows jaded, borderline reckless Detective Louis Fitch (Imperioli) and his rookie partner Damon Washington (John Michael Hill) as they and their volatile mix of colleagues try to unravel case after case in one of the country’s murder capitals without unraveling themselves. Detroit 1-8-7 may have to work a bit to distinguish itself from the plethora of other crime investigation shows out there, but it’s headed in the right direction. And by being shot on location in the Motor City, it has the added credibility of actually contributing to Detroit’s economy.
