Where We Left Off: Season 9 ended in a dire cliffhanger, as Randy lured two agents into a trap, shooting Horatio and locking Natalia in the trunk of a car that he sent into the ocean.
What to Expect: We’ll assume Horatio and Natalia survive, since killing them off would be no way to start a season. But then again, Alana De La Garza is returning in the season premiere as Horatio’s dead wife, so perhaps he comes pretty close to going toward the light.
New Faces: Eddie Cibrian (“Third Watch”) joins the cast as an officer from the Hollywood division who joins the Miami squad.
Where We Left Off: After an explosive case involving his father, CSI Eric Delko (Adam Rodriguez) was left in a coma, and CSI Calleigh Duquesne (Emily Procter) was left in tears.
What to Expect: The story picks up where it left off, with Delko lost and in grave danger in the Florida Everglades. The premiere episode flashes back to 1997, in the infancy of forensic science, and shows how police detective Horatio Caine (David Caruso) saw its possibilities in solving difficult cases and decided to put a team together.
***UPDATE SEPTEMBER 28: Omar Miller (Transformers) has joined the cast and will debut in the Oct. 5 episode. Miller plays Walter Simmons, a Louisiana native and art theft specialist who transfers over from the night shift to join Horatio's team.
What to Expect: The ninth season will usher in a new Sunday night time slot. We'll also see Delko and Calleigh (Emily Proctor) assessing their relationship. Proctor says she will miss a couple of episodes this season because of her real-life pregnancy. In the season premiere, "Fallen, the team loses one of their own when a psychotic genius runs wild in Miami.
