What’s It All About? When her aunt is brutally murdered, Jane Alexander (Sheedy) tries to find the killer with the help of an equally determined detective (Meat Loaf). After evidence begins to point in the direction of Jane’s boyfriend, she worries that she might become the next victim. Based on a true story, Citizen Jane is pretty standard fare, buoyed by a cast who put their best efforts into making it something more than that. “It wasn’t about the money. It wasn’t about where it was. It wasn’t about whether it’s going to be the next Spielberg piece,” says Meat Loaf. “It was about, ‘OK, we came, we took this job and we’re going to make this friggin’ thing happen.’ And I love that.”

What’s It All About? Remember that wavy-haired hunk Lorenzo Lamas from the 1980s hit Falcon Crest? Or, if you’re younger, you may better know his blond bombshell daughter Shayne Lamas, who won last year’s The Bachelor: London Calling. Well, those two — along with Shayne’s brother A.J., mom Michelle and sis Dakota — make for one dysfunctional reality mess. Dad Lorenzo and son A.J. are in what Lorenzo calls a “strained” and “unusual” relationship, where they haven’t even been in the same room together for years. The series, produced by Mike Fleiss, chronicles their life and relationships with the family’s ultimate hope for healing. “There is only one way to get a family together and that’s television,” Fleiss jokes. “That’s what the E! channel is all about.”
Lorenzo takes a more serious approach to the show. “There’s a chance that we can make things better through the circumstances of a television show,” he says. “I am just looking at it as an opportunity to get closer to my kids, the two kids who I really never got a chance to see much of when they were younger because I was working so much. We are in a sense rebuilding our lives, professionally and personally.”

What’s It All About? Dr. Kate McGinn (Kelli Giddish) is a specialist in reincarnation and working with those who have regressive memories from past lives that are trying to communicate something to the world in the present. Working in tandem with former NYPD Detective Price Whatley (Nicholas Bishop) and a team of what appear to be forensic psychologists, they race to assemble evidence following leads supplied by the agitated past-life memories of the ostensibly reincarnated. Past Life could be seen as the next logical step after hyper-observational-based crime-scene investigation series like Psych and last year’s The Mentalist, though it takes things fairly far out in the realm of science fiction, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
