Airs: Wednesdays, 10pm ET
Network: National Geographic Channel
What’s It All About?: The show follows Alaska State Troopers and rookies entering the academy as they deal with ethical and legal issues in the tough Alaskan terrain. Whether troopers are secluded near the Arctic Circle — where they are solely responsible for any case or circumstance that comes their way — or searching the swamps and forests for illegal hunting, these troopers have one goal: to protect the people and wildlife of Alaska. Viewers follow troopers in their heartbreaking annual search for missing snow machine riders alongside Yupik Eskimos, and travel the dense forest via four wheelers searching for “kill sites,” where moose and other animal remains are checked for legal hunting protocol. Even the conventional traffic stop is dangerous. It’s a surprising and educational glimpse of life for Alaska State Troopers and Alaskan citizens alike.

show it at an earlyier time but this shows looks freakin sweet
I spent a full career as an Alaska State Trooper / pilot woking half of my 20 years in the bush Bethel, Nome, and Aniak. My patrol car was an Airplane,River Boat, Snowmachine, and four wheel drive vehicle. I am sure your program will do justice to the people of Alaska and the fine troopers who serve them. I retired in 1994 from the Aniak Post on the Kuskokwim River
Looks to be an outstanding show, worked SAR and other L.E. w/ AST, was neighbor to Paul E… while in HS, he was outstanding Trooper, also friend of Lt. Dalke featured on the show. Thanks Nat Geo for bringing this organization to the lower 48′.
I heard that the filming of the show was kept on the down low- the real down low! No one at my post was even aware of it. I guess we didn’t get the memo…..
gonna have to DVR this one!!! I work for the KS Hwy Patrol and am excited to see this show!
I have lived in alaska for 33 years.
And would say all the troopers I’ve met are Dirty Cops.
I have no use for any of them so won’t watch a show that glorifies Criminals.
Goodno, your a coward. You should respect the law along with the people who enforce it whether its the Police or Military. Very immature comment, grow up.This is a great show. It brings alittle more of alaska to the lower states…
Watched the show. Absolutely love it! Keep up the good work.
Retired from the Alaska Department of Public Safety as a pilot/trooper.
I’ve written two books about the great work the Alaska Troopers do: Alaska Justice and Alaska & Beyond.
you guys are quick to make judgments. what happens when the shoe is on the other foot?
This show is ridiculous. Whatever you see or hear about Alaska on TV is either an extreme exaggeration or an out and out lie. Which is tragic because Alaska is so incredible and awesome without all the hype and spin. If you really want to know Ak, come see it for yourself. Unfortunately, I need to agree with Goodno above…. MANY (not all) Troopers up here are crooked, simple-minded, little men who have an abundance of testosterone that they need to fling around all the time.
I’d never thought Alaska has any kind of interesting activity or even dangerous. I only thought it’s a beatiful place to visit (if I ever thought of taking the trip there). Now that I’ve watched the show, I’m addicted to show! You Troopers are awesome and a put your life in a great deal of risk to help people and reserve Alaska. Great job and ALL you guys ROCK!!! Keep it up!

Enjoy the show alot – well done. Living on the Great Plains, we don’t get to see such spectacular scenery and to be able to work there would be a bonus to me. Having said that, I don’t imagine being in law enforcement in such a remote place is any picnic. You all do a job I never could – thank you for that.
Didn’t know this show was on. I was an MP in the corp and ive always wanted to visit AK. I’ll be watching now.
hi mr. bartlett, its me agnes evan from stony river. im looking
for your book, sorry i never did get back to you. please e-mail me about your book. your friend, agnes
Troopers are generally much better than local cops, many are a little older and experienced than most town cops.
They are not into being total pains. Have had them do a flash of lights to politely let me and others know your speeding. They have a lot of area to cover and things to deal with. Transports of prisoners into town.
There is Blue and Brown shirts, one is normal law enforcement, the others are fish and game.
And then you have VPO/VPSO – village public safety. VPO are village cops?
Airport Cops in Fairbanks are supposedly troopers, but .. Not had to deal with federal marshals and like, seen some I suspect Secret Service once or twice.. The fun of having an airport with a bit of international traffic to/from Asia/Europe.
The pecking order of local cops seem to be Feds (you hardly see them, unless its MP/SP and like), Troopers. Fairbanks cops, North Pole and UAF. Some of the local non-Trooper cops seem to be little more than security guards, only fit for breaking up fights and giving out tickets and like.. Beware if you have a expensive truck and been drinking, they love you!! DUIs seem to have become a business?
People do forget that troopers/cops do health and welfare checks, such as for lost persons, people who are a danger to themselves, and like issues.. Chronic drunks being one of the things that they often have to deal with.
MP/SPs seem to be okay, but often seem to be bored?

41years ago there was a valley outside Anchorage called the Matanuska valley. I keep hearing about the Matsu valley. Has the name changed or
are they different valley’s. Or is your host prononceing it wrong.
